Top 5 Items for Black Friday 2021

Its that time of year again – Black Friday/Cyber Monday and the deals are starting to pop! As someone who loves a good deal, I tend to pay attention to these sales and figured I would share a few items that have caught my eye as I think about my 2022 trips (Fly In, Hike in Ice Fishing and Paddle in)

Pflueger President Spinning Reel
I already own a Pflueger President – to date it has been a great reel and its my go to for backcountry trips. Smooth, tough and at a price point I can live with – nothing better than that for this Scottish kid! This summer I plan on taking a more serious run at trout – Spring and Summer. To troll for lakers I would like to have a secondary spinning reel spooled with metered line – the President may fit the bill. It’s on sale at Cabelas as part of their Black Friday event – link here Cabelas Black Friday

GC Expedition Snowshoes
This could have easily been any brand of snowshoes, I have never snowshoed before, so I am not going to be picky. My brother and I plan on spending some time trekking into some smaller lakes north of the Greater Toronto Region looking for the trout’s! I also want to do some trail walking (Shoeing?) closer to home for exercise and fresh air. These ones seem to get decent review, so I am going to check them out. They are on sale at Sail as part of their “pre–Black Friday” deals. Link here Snowshoes at Sail

Garmin inReach Mini
Most of the trips we have planned this year will take us out of cell phone range. In the past we have used satellite phones or inReach products supplied by our outfitter. I know as a group we are looking at getting our own. The benefits of being able to text updates, check weather track movements and send out an SOS are very appealing to us. The mini model is a bit more basic on the unit itself but can hook to a phone via Bluetooth to provide more intel. Its on sale at MEC in their “Pre-Black Friday” until November 29th inReach Mini Mec

Tilley T3 Wanderer
Yes – this may be the year I break down and go Tilley hat. Nothing against Tilley – should say Tilley style of hat. Between going bald and a bad tendency to get the “red neck” burn on any fishing outing I want a wide brim hat. Tilley’s reputation proceeds them, and they are a Canadian company to boot. Many of there hat styles are on sale right now for Black Friday – the T3 is the version I am looking at Tilley T3

13 Fishing Omen Black Rod
Last few summers I have really enjoyed fishing the Ned Rig, Senkos and the Neko rig. On the cottage lakes I fish they have been my go-to for bass and I am also impressed with all the other species I have caught (walleye, panfish and pike) while using them. Last summer I broke my finesse spinning rod and I am looking for a new one – this 13 Omen is on sale at Gagnon’s for Black Friday and I am checking it out 13 Omen Black Spinning
So, there’s my 5 – trust me it could have been twenty-five top things – I didn’t even include lures! I also need a few camping items and a wool jacket, maybe some boots – well you get the idea – I have a problem! Feel free to check these and other deals out – these are not affiliate links so where and how you buy is up to you – I just wanted to share for those like minded, budget conscious anglers like myself!
PS – I am NOT affiliated with any of the brands or products in this post, but I am SO open to it…
